Tzabar - צַבָּר

Pronunciation: Tza·bar

Literal translation: Prickly pear cactus

Tzabar is a type of cactus that can be found all across Israel, especially in the desert and hotter areas. For this reason, anyone that is a native Israeli is known as a Tzabra. This Hebrew term is used because Israelis are prickly on the outside but sweet on the inside.
