Literal translation: Merciful
This can be a tricky Hebrew word to learn. On one hand, calling someone Hanoon can be a good thing, telling him he is merciful or compassionate. But on the other hand, mispronouncing it and calling him H'noon by mistake, would mean you are calling him a nerd. So just make sure you pronounce it correctly.
