Literal translation: Holocaust Remembrance Day
Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day. Since the 1960s, Israel has been sounding a siren on Yom HaShoah which stops all traffic throughout the country for one minute of silent reflection. You will see people standing beside their vehicles on the roads and highways and pedestrians stop in the streets.
